Sycamore Gap │ Imogen Morris
Paying homage to one of the UK’s most beloved natural landmarks, Sycamore Gap is immortalised through Imogen’s signature thread‑based technique. Inspired by the green spaces surrounding her Birmingham home, Imogen continues her exploration of Britain’s natural icons, capturing both their beauty and their emotional resonance.
Within the suite, Sycamore Gap sits alongside Major Pam, forming a quiet dialogue between two trees that have shaped the national imagination. The shared palette of warm golds and soft tonal accents allows the piece to settle harmoniously into the suite’s gentle interior, offering a sense of calm and continuity.
As with all of Imogen’s work, the piece occupies the space between 2D and 3D - thread rising subtly from the painted board to create a delicate sculptural relief. The result is a contemporary tribute to a fallen icon, rendered with sensitivity, precision and a deep respect for the natural world.
