Major Pam │ Imogen Morris
Inspired by walks through local green spaces, Major Pam reflects Imogen’s deep connection to the natural world. Within this suite, she chose to depict two iconic UK trees - Sycamore Gap and Major Pam - each representing resilience, rootedness and a quiet sense of presence.
Designed specifically for placement above the bed, the most grounding and restful point within the suite, this piece invites calm. Trees have long symbolised stability, strength and connection and Imogen’s intention is for guests to feel centred and balanced when experiencing the work. The rich palette - soft pinks, bronzes and warm golds - enhances this sense of comfort, creating a gentle glow that harmonises with the surrounding interior.
As with all of Imogen’s practice, the work sits between 2D and 3D, with thread rising subtly from the painted board to form a delicate sculptural relief. The result is a contemporary, tactile interpretation of a natural landmark, rendered with both precision and warmth.
