Love Letter │ Mengyao Qin
Inspired by Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Don Quixote, 'Love Letter' captures the dreamlike poetry of a night suspended between memory and imagination. Shifting sky tones, cascading rose petals and the romantic fantasy of the ballet become a visual reverie - a moment held delicately between waking and dreaming.
Qin paints onto satin fabric, allowing the surface to glow with a soft, ethereal luminosity. The work feels both transient and timeless: a surreal glimpse of last night’s dream, still warm with emotion yet already dissolving into morning light.
Love Letter becomes a contemporary meditation on love, longing and the fragile beauty of imagined worlds - a painted love letter to the ephemeral.
